Zach Taylor, MA LPC
Psychotherapist | Relationship Coach | Director at Grief.com
Helping couples build strong relationships, repair trust after betrayal, and find their way back to connection.
Relationships shape the quality of our lives more than almost anything else. The health of our marriages and partnerships influences our emotional wellbeing, our families, and even the communities we build.
My work is dedicated to helping couples create relationships that are secure, honest, and resilient.
Whether you are preparing for marriage, navigating conflict, or recovering from infidelity, my goal is to help you understand what is happening beneath the surface of your relationship and give you practical tools to repair and grow.
Â
My Path to Relationship Work
My commitment to couples work is deeply personal.
When my own marriage ended, it was devastating, just as it is for many people who experience the loss of a relationship they believed would last forever, I felt disoriented, heartbroken, and searching for answers.
Instead of walking away from the idea of marriage, I became more committed to understanding it.
I immersed myself in the study of relationships and dedicated myself to learning from the world’s leading couples therapists and relationship experts. Through that process, I came to believe even more strongly that healthy marriages are one of the most powerful foundations for a healthy life, family, and community.
Today, I help couples build those foundations.
I work with:
-
couples preparing for marriage
-
partners stuck in painful conflict cycles
-
couples recovering after infidelity
-
individuals healing after divorce or relationship loss
My goal is not simply to reduce conflict — it is to help partners rediscover respect, emotional safety, and connection.
Training With Leading Experts in Relationships
My approach draws from many of the most respected models in modern relationship psychology.
I have trained in approaches including:
-
Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT)
-
 Relational Life Therapy (RLT)
-
The Gottman Method
-
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Throughout my career I have collaborated with and learned from some of the most respected voices in the field of relationships and psychotherapy.
I have shared the stage with renowned relationship therapist Esther Perel and worked closely with leading experts including:
-
Terry Real
-
Alexandra Solomon
-
Sara Nasserzadeh
-
Lisa Kleyn
These perspectives inform my work helping couples understand the emotional patterns that drive conflict and disconnection.
Â
Former Director of Psychotherapy Networker
Prior to my current work, I served as Director of Psychotherapy Networker, one of the most influential educational organizations in the field of psychotherapy.
In that role I helped develop and produce advanced trainings for thousands of therapists around the world and worked alongside many of the most respected voices in psychology and relationship science.
I also helped host and develop programming for the Psychotherapy Networker Symposium, one of the largest psychotherapy conferences in the United States.
This work allowed me to collaborate with leaders across many therapeutic disciplines and deepen my understanding of how people heal and change.
Â
Director at Grief.com & CEO of David Kessler Inc.
I currently serve as Director of Grief.com and CEO of David Kessler Inc., where I work alongside David Kessler, one of the most trusted grief and loss experts in the world and author of seven best-selling books on grief.
In this role I help develop educational programs that support people navigating loss, trauma, and life transitions.
In addition to relationship work, I also support individuals who are grieving:
-
the death of a loved one
-
the loss of a relationship
-
divorce or major life transitions
Grief and relationships are deeply connected. Many people seeking relationship support are also navigating loss, and understanding grief is an important part of helping people rebuild their lives.
My First Experience With Therapy
My path into psychotherapy began as a client.
Earlier in my life I struggled with PTSD following human rights work in Southeast Asia, along with a severe anxiety and panic disorder that impacted my life for years.
Experiencing therapy firsthand changed my life. It showed me how powerful the healing process can be when someone is given the right support.
After the Great Recession disrupted my real estate business, a simple conversation with a barista at Starbucks helped inspire a decision that changed my life: I returned to graduate school to become a therapist.
That decision was more than 17 years ago.
Since then I have dedicated my career to helping others navigate the same kinds of struggles I once faced.

My Approach to Couples Work
Every relationship develops patterns.Â
When couples come to me, they are often stuck in cycles that feel impossible to escape:
-
recurring arguments
-
emotional withdrawal
-
breakdowns in trust
-
communication that escalates instead of repairs
My work quickly identifies and changes these patterns.
Rather than simply focusing on communication techniques, I help partners understand what is happening beneath the surface of their interactions.
Couples are often so close to breakthroughs. They are usually just one step beneath the level they can access on their own. Once we uncover that layer, transformation usually isn't far behind.

A Final Thought
Healthy relationships are not built on perfection.
